So, Cindy and I decided a couple weeks ago that we were going to find bento boxes for everyone to begin taking their lunches with them more regularly. The boys are used to taking their lunch to school with them, as it’s more a special occasion that they get to buy lunch from school.
We found a couple little bento boxes for the boys at one of the local asian markets. We’re still looking for ours, but without a really good “Chinatown” in the Kansas City area, we’re going to have to resort to shopping online for ours.
That being said, the boys seem to have been enjoying the bento boxes so far. The menu has been as follows:
Monday: PB&J sandwiches (cut into shapes with small cookie cutters), banana slices, juice box and Oreos
Tuesday: Popcorn Chicken, cheese cubes, grapes, juice and Oreos
Wednesday: Beef and Cheese Burrito, grapes, juice and Oreos (Can you see a pattern here with the juice and dessert? ~_^)
and then for tomorrow: Quesadilla Roll, sliced apples, juice and chocolate Goldfish cookies.
I should remember to take pictures of these going forward and post them up for everyone to see. It’s nice to be able to actually have the boys eat all of their lunch(or at least pretend to), to be using fewer plastic bags, and to give the boys something different than what everyone else at the school brings for lunch.
